I recently got a new MacBook Pro,
and I completely use it as the main machine to work normally. Let me talk about my experience during this time.
Premise:
I am a travel blogger, my productivity is editing videos, and the requirements for computer configuration are quite high. The 2021 MacBook Pro I bought is a 14-inch plus 8-core M1 Pro chip, 16g of memory, and 1tb of storage. I also have a 2014 13" MacBook Pro, so most of the comparisons are with this older Mac.
1. Appearance
Compared with the 13-inch model of 2014, the size, size and weight of the two are almost the same. The appearance of the 21 MacBook is indeed very round, giving up the thin and light curved design, less cool and more simple, and still very comfortable to touch. Although the data shows that the thickness is thinner than that of the previous generation, it is really thick in the senses. It seems that Apple is really positioning the pro series as a workstation.
2. Body interface
The 21 Macs added back the magnetic interface, HDMI interface and SD card slot that were removed from previous generations, but lacked the USB-A port. Of course, it is completely possible to prepare a transfer interface, but it will become longer. The SD card slot is very useful for photography, and it is really convenient.
3. Screen
I like this screen very much. When opening and closing the screen, the damping is very small, and it feels very light. The narrow frame is really comfortable in visual experience, but this bangs, although it is a big slot, will gradually get used to it after watching more. Moreover, with a dark background, Lou Hailing is really not easy to notice, and light colors will still be more obvious.
4. Performance
In the past two weeks, the overall use has been very smooth. The reason why I wanted to change to the new model before is because the 14 models of macs are almost stuck in ppt when editing 4k video. However, after the actual experience of the new model, editing 6 4k120 frame videos at the same time is stress-free and extremely silky. There is no pressure to run hardware-intensive software such as AE and Da Vinci. The read and write speed of the hard disk is also beyond my expectations. The read speed is stable at around 5000M and the write speed is around 4000M.
5. Buying advice
For users who have professional video editing needs and often need to go out (yes, travel bloggers), I recommend you at least go to pro, after all, Apple's quality control can still be used for three or five years. For users who only have office needs, it is recommended that you start with air. After all, it is thin and affordable, and its performance is fully caBuying advicepable of daily work. If you buy a 14-inch, it is recommended to use the residual blood version of the M1 Pro, which is absolutely enough and saves power. The memory can refer to the memory usage of the Mac before purchase. If the used memory + used swap is less than 20g or the used swap is not more than 5g, I feel there is no need to increase the memory to 32g. Because adding memory is too expensive, and thanks to the high-speed hard drive, the difference in experience between 16g memory and 32g memory is minimal. Whether the hard disk is installed or not depends on the current hard disk usage.
